This 32-hour course provides the foundation for developing competent and efficient inspectors and oversight personnel to validate glovebox containment through leak testing. Concepts will be taught through a combination of lectures, classroom exercises, homework and a variety of hands-on demonstrations using three large gloveboxes, control board, box welds and manifold props. Students will work with current pressure testing equipment, mass spectrometers, fill/vent fixturing and pump equipment. Different scenarios will be provided to prepare students for encountering natural leaks, effects of environment on testing, sensitivity variation of the different testing techniques, and best approach/sequence for tackling glovebox leak testing. Students will leave with knowledge of the most likely leak areas and what preliminary checks can be accomplished to improve inspection efficiency. Price per student: $3,200

Expected Audience:
1. Technicians who will be completing glovebox leak tests at fabricators, installation at laboratories, and in-service inspections
2. Shop supervisors and laboratory supplier quality representatives

Prerequisites (preferred):
1. Nondestructive Testing understanding (material processing, visual inspection, welds)
2. Familiarity with gloveboxes (understanding features and functionality)
3. Basics of pressure change and helium mass spectrometer detector probe (or sniffer) testing

LTS will charge all credit cards at the time of registration. Student cancellations will be offered a credit for a future class with available seats.
