About LTS
Leak Testing Specialists, Inc. is a specialized nondestructive testing, leak testing, training, and consulting company based in Merritt Island, Florida. LTS supports customers in technically demanding environments where qualification evidence, procedural compliance, safety, documentation integrity, and customer trust are critical.
LTS is growing its technician base, training capacity, field-readiness systems, and quality-driven execution model. We are looking for senior technical talent that can help us strengthen both field performance and the qualification pipeline for the next generation of LTS technicians.
Position Summary
LTS is seeking a Senior NDT / Leak Testing Technician – Level III to support advanced leak testing, technical oversight, training, procedure review, technician qualification, customer support, and field execution.
The preferred candidate will already be fully qualified and certified as a Level III in Leak Testing or a directly relevant NDT method. However, LTS will also consider a strong senior Level II or experienced technical candidate who has the judgment, discipline, field experience, documentation habits, and willingness to work on-site in Merritt Island, Florida to complete any required LTS qualification or certification path.
This is not just a field technician role. This role supports technical authority, technician development, customer confidence, audit readiness, and scalable growth.
Key Responsibilities
The Level III / Senior Technician may support:
- Advanced leak testing and NDT work at LTS facilities and customer sites.
- Technical review of procedures, job scope, test methods, acceptance criteria, equipment requirements, documentation requirements, and customer expectations.
- Qualification, mentoring, training, and technical evaluation of Level I and Level II technicians, when authorized.
- Review of OJT documentation, practical demonstrations, written examinations, continuity records, vision records where applicable, and qualification evidence under LTS procedures and applicable written practice.
- Troubleshooting of test setups, leak detector performance, fixtures, vacuum systems, pressure systems, instrumentation, field conditions, and procedure conflicts.
- Customer technical discussions, pre-job planning, readiness reviews, and post-job issue resolution.
- Field mobilization readiness reviews, including staffing qualifications, equipment status, procedure status, site access, PPE, safety, and reporting expectations.
- Technical input for quotes, bid reviews, scope clarification, and customer requirement interpretation.
- Development or improvement of training materials, work instructions, checklists, and lessons learned.
- Support of internal audits, customer audits, supplier reviews, corrective actions, and quality-system improvement.
- Stop-work escalation when conditions are unsafe, noncompliant, technically unsound, or not ready for execution.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Current Level III qualification or certification in Leak Testing or a closely related NDT method.
- ASNT Level III, employer-based Level III, or comparable senior NDT qualification experience.
- Experience administering or supporting technician qualification programs under ASNT SNT-TC-1A, ANSI/ASNT CP-189, NAS 410, ISO 9712, or customer-specific requirements, as applicable.
- Strong technical depth in leak testing methods such as helium mass spectrometer testing, pressure decay, pressure change measurement, mass flow testing, vacuum systems, bubble testing, vacuum box testing, ultrasonic leak location, or related methods.
- Experience preparing, reviewing, or approving NDT procedures, technique sheets, training content, examinations, OJT records, and qualification documentation.
- Experience supporting regulated or high-reliability sectors such as nuclear, aerospace, defense, space, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, power generation, fabrication, shipyard, or advanced industrial environments.
- Experience with audit readiness, corrective action, root cause review, technical documentation, objective evidence, calibration awareness, and records integrity.
- Strong customer-facing judgment and ability to communicate technical risk clearly.
- Ability to mentor early-career technicians without lowering standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should have:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Technical school, military technical training, engineering technology, NDT, quality, or related education is preferred.
- Significant practical experience in leak testing, NDT, mechanical testing, pressure/vacuum systems, field service, quality inspection, or related technical work.
- Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply procedures, specifications, standards, drawings, customer requirements, and work instructions.
- Strong written communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to lead by example in safety, quality, confidentiality, and procedure adherence.
- Ability to meet applicable customer/site access requirements, which may include background screening, drug screening, safety orientation, fitness-for-duty expectations, identity verification, and security or export-control review depending on assignment.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical and Work Environment Expectations
This role may involve:
- Field and facility-based work in shop, warehouse, laboratory, construction, industrial, and customer-site environments.
- Standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and working around specialized equipment.
- Travel, overtime, variable schedules, customer-site rules, PPE, and safety-sensitive assignments.
- Technical leadership in situations where readiness, documentation, and judgment matter.
Technical Leadership Expectations
A Level III / Senior Technician at LTS must be able to do more than perform a test. The right candidate should help LTS answer critical questions before, during, and after work:
- Are the assigned technicians properly qualified?
- Is the procedure clear and appropriate for the work?
- Is the equipment ready, current, and traceable?
- Are the customer requirements understood?
- Are the records sufficient to support quality, billing, and customer acceptance?
- Has the team stopped and escalated when something is unclear, unsafe, or technically unsound?
This role requires credibility, discipline, and judgment.
Candidate Development Path
LTS prefers candidates who are already fully ready to support Level III responsibilities. However, we will consider strong senior Level II candidates or technically mature candidates who can grow into Level III authority.
If a candidate is not fully qualified under LTS requirements, LTS may establish an on-site qualification path in Merritt Island, Florida. That path may include training review, documented experience review, written and practical examinations, method-specific qualification steps, procedure review, mentoring under authorized personnel, vision requirements where applicable, continuity review, and final review under LTS’s applicable written practice and quality requirements.
Level III authority, sign-off authority, or independent technical approval authority will not be assumed. It will be granted only after LTS verifies the required qualification, certification, competence, customer requirements, and management approvals.
What We Value
LTS is looking for senior technical personnel who are:
- Technically credible
- Safety-first and quality-first
- Strong in written procedures and objective evidence
- Calm under customer pressure
- Willing to mentor without creating dependency
- Direct but professional
- Comfortable stopping work when conditions are not ready
- Serious about protecting customer and company information
- Capable of helping LTS scale without lowering standards
