Position Summary
LTS is seeking a Level II NDT / Leak Testing Technician to support field and facility-based leak testing work. The preferred candidate will already be qualified and certified as a Level II technician in leak testing or related nondestructive testing methods. However, LTS will also consider the right candidate who has strong technical aptitude, relevant field or industrial experience, and is willing to work on-site in Merritt Island, Florida to complete LTS training, qualification, and certification requirements.
This role is suited for someone who can follow technical procedures, work safely, document work accurately, travel when required, and represent LTS professionally at customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
The Level II Technician will perform and support leak testing and related NDT work under approved procedures, customer requirements, and LTS quality expectations. Responsibilities may include:
- Perform leak testing and related NDT activities in accordance with approved procedures, work instructions, customer requirements, and applicable standards.
- Set up, operate, verify, and care for assigned test equipment, leak detectors, gauges, fixtures, tools, hoses, pumps, and materials.
- Review job scope, procedure requirements, equipment readiness, calibration status, safety expectations, and documentation needs before work begins.
- Perform field testing at customer sites and in LTS facilities as assigned.
- Accurately document work performed, test conditions, results, exceptions, delays, and required field evidence.
- Identify and escalate unclear instructions, unexpected indications, equipment concerns, procedure conflicts, customer-site changes, or safety issues.
- Maintain a stop-work mindset when conditions appear unsafe, noncompliant, technically unsound, or unclear.
- Support mobilization, demobilization, equipment return, job closeout, and lessons learned.
- Protect customer, technical, commercial, and proprietary information.
- Support trainee and Level I development as assigned, within the limits of qualification and company authority.
Preferred Qualifications
Fully qualified candidates are preferred. Ideal candidates may have:
- Current or prior employer-based Level II qualification or certification in Leak Testing or related NDT methods.
- Experience with helium mass spectrometer leak testing, pressure decay, pressure change measurement, mass flow testing, bubble testing, vacuum box testing, ultrasonic leak location, visual testing, liquid penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, pressure systems, or vacuum systems.
- Experience working in nuclear, aerospace, defense, shipyard, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, power generation, industrial, fabrication, or regulated field-service environments.
- Familiarity with ASNT SNT-TC-1A, ANSI/ASNT CP-189, ASME Section V, ASTM leak testing standards, NQA-1, ISO 9712, NAS 410, or customer-specific NDT requirements.
- Experience reading and following technical procedures, work instructions, specifications, drawings, and customer requirements.
- Strong documentation habits and attention to objective evidence.
- Prior customer-site field-service experience.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company and customer travel requirements.
- OSHA, site safety, TWIC, nuclear access, NANTeL, respirator, confined space, fall protection, or other site-access credentials are a plus.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should have:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn technical processes.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and professional communication.
- Ability to work safely in field, facility, warehouse, and customer-site environments.
- Ability to complete required LTS training, qualification, and certification steps before independent assignment.
- Ability to meet applicable customer/site access requirements, which may include background screening, drug screening, safety orientation, fitness-for-duty expectations, identity verification, and security or export-control review depending on assignment.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical and Work Environment Expectations
This role may involve:
- Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs or ladders, and working around equipment.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling tools, equipment, hoses, fixtures, or job materials.
- Working in shop, field, warehouse, construction, industrial, laboratory, or customer-site environments.
- Travel assignments that may include extended days, overtime, shift work, or variable schedules.
- Use of PPE and compliance with LTS and customer safety requirements.
Candidate Development Path
LTS prefers candidates who are ready to perform as qualified Level II technicians. However, we are also willing to invest in the right candidate.
If a candidate has strong potential but does not yet meet all LTS qualification requirements, the candidate may be placed into an on-site qualification path in Merritt Island, Florida. That path may include classroom training, supervised practical work, procedure training, examinations, hands-on demonstrations, OJT documentation, vision requirements where applicable, continuity review, and final review under LTS’s applicable written practice and quality requirements.
Independent field assignment will depend on verified readiness, qualification status, customer requirements, and management approval.
